identify this bizarre plant??

| Can anyone give me an idea of what this plant is growing in my Dad's backyard?? These little pods then turn dark purple, and swell up like grapes. What is this?

| Pokeweed, sometimes called pokeberry. Look it up and read about the poisonous side of it. The berries are NOT poisonous to birds. |

| You should put Round up on it. It's a really invasive weed that will take over. It has really big tubers and spreading roots so cutting it down or digging it out does little to stop it. |
