Hi all,
Does anyone have experience growing this plant in the Midwest? I notice BBG has chosen it for it's Select Plants program, and it's suddenly showing up all over the wholesale catalogues. Just can't find much info. Thanks in advance.

It is a moderate growing, suckering shrub to about 3-4ft in height and spread. It appreciates well-drained soil and does well in full sun or part shade. It begins its bloom here heavily in about May/June for about one month. It's doing a bit of repeat bloom right now. I don't think it is the blooming machine it is reported to be and I can't detect any scent at all, though some people sware it smells like a lilac... Personally, I like the blossom color (violet), but it's probably highly overrated.

Ah,
So, as feared, it is very little like the promotional lit. And yet, optimism shaded with stoicism springs eternal. Thanks for the information doniki.
