Emerald Green Arborvitae rusting

Does anybody have any advice for me for my newly transplanted arborvitaes that are rusting? Transplanted 15 of them about 4-5 weeks ago. They have been watered about 2x a week on average, as needed. They looked great until a few days ago as half of them have been getting rusty on the inside. Most of them being a very deep rusty color (not brown, black, or yellow). I heard this may happen in the fall and is normal for the leaves to "drop" but I can't help but worry. I'm a young homeowner with very little gardening experience so any advice would be helpful, thanks.

A picture would help.

If the browning is on internal needles, not the tips, you should be fine. Transplant shock can exacerbate the normal browning.

When watering you need to check the root ball to make sure the water isn't deflecting away underground. Go down about 4-6 inches (and about that far away from the trunk)after watering to make sure it is wet.
