How late can I add new plants?

With all of the nurseries having their clearance sales I wanted to take advantage and add some new perrenials to my garden. How much time do I have left to do this? I live in a suburb of chicago just 20 minutes southwest. Thank you

Leslie

I plant perennials and shrubs until mid October or so, maybe even a little later than that. Just make sure to keep everything well watered, and they will be fine. Just remember, that success mostly comes from a healthy plant, and some of the clearance items aren't all that healthy to begin with.
