Is It Too Late to Move Perennials?

I'm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I'd like to move some perennials to new locations in my garden, but I not sure if it is too late in the season. If I move them now, will they survive the winter?

My deadline in the Chicago land area is Oct. 15. I think as long as it's moved by then it will have time to put down roots before the first freeze, not frost, but freeze.

Keep moving them. I will move perennials until the ground freezes. We're not talking large conifers here with winter transpiration issues, we're talking dormant or about to be dormant plants.

What about planting late purchased perennials still in pots?
