I am wondering what your favorite garden center is. What do you like best about it & where is it located.

Mine is Mileagers in Racine, WI. Beautiful plants, big selection, including many unusual perennials and herbs.

How about you all?..........

Prairie Nursery in Wisconsin and Prairie Moon in Minnesota are excellent native plant mail order nurseries. Both have beautiful catalogues and good web sites. Also a lot of midwest species are sold by ShootingStar Nursery in Kentucky. I have ordered from all and have found the quality and service to be excellent.

Milaegers is my favorite too. The 1st time I went there, I told my hubby 'this is where I want my ashes spread, this is Heaven!". LOL!! Another one that is really good is Wayne's Daughters. It's just a little north of Milaegers on hwy 32. Though not quite as big as Milaeger's, they have a great selection and the prices are good too. I believe they just opened this place up this past summer. They have another one in (I think) the town of Raymond just west of I-94. If I remember right, it's not as big as the one on hwy 32.

Hi again. Country Gardens is amazing, too. Located near Ashippun, WI

Take I-94 west to Hwy 16 N Drive to the end (runs into Oconomowoc), to the 2nd Hwy P exit (north). Go right on Hwy P to Hwy K. Take a left. Drive about 1\4-1\2 mile, take right on Mcmahon Rd. Drive for awhile(4 miles?), cross Hwy 67 (not labeled), cross Pennsylvania St. You should see a sign just past crossing. It is about 4 doors after Penn. St.on the left side.
Large variety of perennials & grasses, absolutely beautiful plants. They have lovely display gardens, too.

Near Decorah. IA, look for Willow Glen. Awesome!! Large variety of perennials--many hard to find, different types of willows for basket making. Beautiful garden layouts.

...and it is very close to the Seed Saver's place, just off the same road.

My favorites are Monches just to the NW of Milwaukee and the flower factory South of Madison.

The flower factory is a must see. Thousands of different hybrids and plants you just won't see anywhere else. Unfortunately no web site.
