Disanthus & Enkianthus

I am looking for anyone with experience growing either or both of these, Disanthus Cercidifolius & Enkianthus campanulatus, in the Midwest, specifically Z5, Chicagoland area. I know they prefer a more acidic environment which I can provide since they will be in raised beds that I can amend with peat moss and sulfur. I am more concerned with hardiness, light requirements, and how successful they might be in this area. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

RE: Disanthus & Enkianthus

I know they have enkianthus in the anderson japanese gardens in Rockford, IL. I saw it there, bought a plant from forestfarm, and killed it. It was quite small though - and it is supposedly only zone 6. But I also have alkaline soil. maybe at anderson gardens it was sheltered. I did not notice. Maybe give them a call.
