Any suggestion for a Cleveland garden?

I need to design my sister's garden in Cleveland. I am not very familiar with that area. Any plants do particularly well in Cleveland?

Hi,
I'm not from Cleveland, are they zone 5 or 6 there. I live in zone 5 . I could give you plants that I see a lot of or that I like if you want.

I'm originally from Cleveland and my entire family still lives there. What kind of plants are you looking for - annual, perennial, shrub, ornamental tree, etc.?

Hi Arborgirl,

I would like to have some suggestions on small ornamental trees and shrubs. Right now I am reading on Japanese Maple, butterfly bush, hydrandea and etc.

Bigcityal: Thanks for the offer:-)

I can tell you that weeping cherry trees are great as ornamental trees...low maintenance, very nice to look at. Jap Maples are ok, but very fragile and could be susceptible to some diseases if drought occurs. Hostas pretty much turn into bushes in that area with no maintenance (LOL). Hydrangeas are also a good choice! Burning bush is great for fall color and green through the summer as well. Viburnum also do well in that area.
