Clammy Ground Cherries Native to Massachusetts?

Greetings all! Last summer in my new yard I saved an interesting "weed" from my husbandÂs zealous mowing. It turned out to be a patch of clammy ground cherries, Physalis heterophylla. The USDA site shows clammy ground cherries to be "present" here in Massachusetts  but is it a native plant? Thank you. . .
