Jerry, It looks like you could pot up your snapdragons into their final pot (though I've never seen a variety that lends itself to hanging pot material...all the cultivars I've grown have always had an upright habit). I've never pinched them, since they branch out as soon as you start dead-heading them. Being in zone 6a, you will have to wait until it warms up outside, probably the May long weekend before taking them outside. Then you will have to slowly acclimatize them to sunlight. For this task, I usually put them under remay cloth for 3-4 days in an area that gets some direct sunlight for part of the day. I normally plant the seeds in April, then they are the right size to be planted out around mid May. They tend to grow quite quickly. What cultivar are you growing?

Al, These plants were uprooted and subsequently planted, as I mentioned in the original post. I had to put them in soil as soon as possible and I doubt anyone, even an experienced gardener like yourself, could have avoided the stress of transplant unless they dug out a block of dirt when moving them. These were growing in a gravel driveway and were going to be sprayed with herbicide. I saw the opportunity to save a few. That is all. I find your comment very condescending.

i would give them a few weeks ....you'll probably be surprised ... air temps arent as important as soil temps.. and we dont know how cold the soil got ... but i doubt it got so cold as to kill the seeds ...the key is.. they didnt sprout yet ... that would be a different story ... next time??? .. dont plant everything at once .... plant in waves.. a few weeks apart .... of course next time.. it will be 70 in feb... for the rest of the summer ... lol ... ken
