Thining Seedlings

Hello all,

I'm planting a bunch of different native species around my property. I used two methods for the seeds. I direct sowed early this spring. Those seedlings are coming up great though a little tight in some spots even though I broadcast them mixed with sand.

The other group of seeds I cold stratified and started indoors in seedling cells. Almost all of the seeds have germinated except for cardinal flower. Some of the seeds like anise hyssop and fire weed are coming in really tight and I'm wondering if I need to thin before hardening off and planting out. Here's a photo.

How large should I wait for the seedlings to get before planting out? Thanks!
