Moving a couple of puttyroot-Aplectrum hyemale

I dug a couple of these from my back woods and want to plant them in my front yard woods, where there is a chance I may occasionally get to see them bloom.

The root looks like 3 marbles all attached together. If I break them apart, will each marble then make a new plant?

I'd like to turn the 2 plants into 6, if that is possible.

It seems when I dig trillium to move or trade, that there seems to be even more the next season. Could it be that when I dig, part or parts of the rhizome is left and it then produces one or more plants the next spring?
