franktank232, the trees I got from raintree are on G5(black gold, white gold and kristin) and are doing very well. I also got a dwarf lapins from miller and a kristin on muzzard, the lapins is doing very well also but the full size kristin died ( it was a very very poor tree with almost no roots). I wish i new what root type my lapins is. I chose theis types based on a couple of things: hardyness and self pollenating, kristin is suposed to be the toughest but is not self pollenating. They are very different than apple trees! everything likes to eat there leaves and they do seem to be temperamental we've had quite a drought here and i think it may have helped them, my soil is very heavy but black as cole. I'll be looking for ways to get them though the winter soon. I hope this helps some. I'll try to post some pics soon... tom

I was thinking the same, Carol, but in all the photos i perused, I didn't see the petals reflexed as in this photo or the two anthers as prominent.

Okay...I'm going to go with all the viburnum answers as the identity of these wonderful trees/shrubs... Yipes!! They bloom????? The one shaped/pruned into a tree-shape was like that when I moved here 7 yrs. ago, and I've kept it pruned. No wonder I've had to fight the "suckers" on the main stem and from the base!!!! It should really be a shrub??? Yipes again!!! Do they really bloom????? I prune them in the spring and throughout the summer and fall - about 3-4 times a year, to keep their shapes and to keep them in bounds (they are vigorous growers!). So...when should I shape them so that it won't interfere with the bloom pattern? I have to follow a "pruning regimen" with my azaleas so they'll bloom - and boy do they ever!! Yes, the Lady Banks do get huge. Mine in Tx City grew up all over a 20' tree and then new vines started moving back down to the ground. They're thornless, so it's real easy to weave the long "dangling" new branchings right where you want them. The plant literature says they need full sun for best flowering, but mine bloomed pretty nicely in part shade. There was a bank of oleanders behind the supporting pear tree; and the pear tree's leaves shaded a lot of the front side of it. I love yellow roses so on trellises and arbors. :) Most of the former owners existing roses are pale pink, (one antique and one hybrid tea, along with a big, near red KnockOut bush in the center "island") so I welcome some yellow out there.
