Growth Rate of Native shrubs and trees

We live in Montana and just bought our first house. It's a clean slate for landscaping (currently it's a dirt lot, heh) and we're looking into doing a native landscape.
I am wondering how fast (in general) will shrubs and trees native to the Rocky Mountain region grow each year? I suppose it would depend on how big they are going to be at maturity...
I'm asking because we would like to save money by buying some of the smaller sizes of shrubs, but we may be moving in 3-4 and selling the house, so I want to make sure they will have "filled out" by then.
We haven't completely decided yet, but some of the species we were looking into are:
Ocean Spray
Golden Current
Curl-Leaf Mountain Mahogany

Thanks for the help!

RE: Growth Rate of Native shrubs and trees

The USDA classifies growth rate as: slow, moderate or rapid. It is based on establishment and the time it takes to reach full maturity height. Here is some information I found for you.

Serviceberry: Amelanchier arborea (Michx. f.) Fernald
Growth Rate: Slow
Mature Height: 36 feet

Ocean Spray:Holodiscus discolor (Pursh) Maxim
Growth Rate: Moderate
Mature Height: 12 feet

Golden Currant: Ribes aureum Pursh
Growth Rate: Moderate
Mature Height: 10 feet

Curl-Leaf Mountain Mahogany: Cercocarpus ledifolius Nutt.
Growth Rate: Moderate
Mature Height: 20 feet

Bearberry: Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (L.) Spreng.
Growth Rate: Rapid
Mature Height: 6 inches

I hope this helps!
