Is it possible to propagate PaloVerde trunk suckers?

I have a Paloverde about 20 ft height.
Have no idea what variety it is.
Smooth green bark, yellow flowers .No thorns
I find no ovbious seeds,(but did find one baby paloverde begin growing about 10 ft from the parent tree, once in 10 yrs)

I have suckers that are coming off the base of the trunk.
I'd like to cut one off and plant it.
Is this a sucessful way to start additional trees.?

Ok so since there's no response to this ....:
How would you advise I do this?

1- either cut the sucker flush with the trunk,or ....
2-should I include a little bit of trunk with the sucker?
3-Then I stick it in a planter and add water and maybe even some propagation formula sold at home Depot. ?
Any other ideas on this task?
