If it truly was the "best damned worm composting place" we would not be unpaid slaves working to fill somebody else's pockets with traffic for ad money. But other than that I agree. There is a tribe somewhere where when the men come back from hunting they do not walk into camp noisy and triumphantly. They sit around the outside of the camp a bit away for a day or so observing. Then when they are back in the rhythm of the camp and know they would not be disturbing it they quietly return. Possibly it is enthusiasm that stops this procedure of looking around for a couple of minutes before bursting with excitement for the topic. I'd say growing into the name is still a work in progress. "1/2 pound and would require around 4 oz of food, but they didn't say how often" is a play on "worms eat their weight in food a day". But with a bit of tempering because that figure is under optimal conditions. It also fails to mention or consider bedding which is of equal or really more importance. Does the 4 oz include bedding which the worms also eat? Please ask the source of that information for me because I have always been confused. With out knowing anything about your bin or even seeing it I can categorically say add half the amount of food you are presently and tripple the bedding. Time is your friend. The worms will work for you, (as we do for this site), just sit back and let the multiply and in time collect your easily gained vermicastings or worm babies. *horrified face at worm babies. 4” cans are plenty for LEDs and get replacement LED bulbs for your halogens too.The rest sounds good to me just remember you need other lighting in the space , ceiling light is just one level.

As for height, I would go minimally mid way up from the slider to the ceiling to hang the rod. You want a type of curtain that easy to slide and grommet style can be not as easy to slide as say rings IMO. Something else to consider...When looking at your slider, the handle is on the left and the width of the wall to the left where the curtain will hang is very narrow and my concern is that if you hang a curtain on that side you will be constantly needing to put your hand behind the curtain to get to the handle. Thinking if you just hang curtains on the right side only could help solve that issue.

Well, it's been a difficult couple of weeks. First of all, I've been so busy with other obigations, that I've not spent as much time as I would like learning the new machine. Then... where to start. Since I bought the machine on consignment, the owners of the shop, although they came and installed the machine for me, were not knowledgeable about my brand of frame. So what I learned by watching YouTube videos, but mostly by talking to a wonderful representative of the Grace Company who downloaded operating manuals and parts lists to my tablet, was that one of the bars was installed backwards and that the take-up bar on the frame actually moved forward and back while the machine quilted. Getting this all working entailed quite a bit of crawling around under the frame, but I finally got it. The tension was set poorly and was leaving eyelashes on the back of the quilt, but when I tightened the top tension, the fabric puckered. So I loosened the bobbin tension, lowered the upper tension and finally got that balanced. Learning the computer program wa another challenge. I spent a fair amount of time, yelling at the videos or tearing my hair out trying to read the manuals, but I actually made a lot of progress today. What didn't work was the spacing when I set the second zone. That's for another day. Oh, I missed telling you how long it took me to learn to load the quilt layers properly. I had bought Red Snappers and clips for floating the quilt, but I decided that for me as a beginner, pinning was the way to go. The stitching running horizontally looks great when running with the computer, but the vertical stitches are not always in line. I'll have to work on that fix too. I'll call Kimberly at Grace again, but I like to give her a few days in between my calls to recover. I'm sure that eventually I'll get this all down pat, but right now the learning curve is really steep. And I haven't even begun to learn how to "repair" the pattern when the bobbin runs out or the thread breaks. Oh, well. They say learning new skills is really good for the aging mind. If this is true, my mind should have gotten about 10 years younger after all this. Thanks for asking, Donna. I wish one of you experienced longarmers lived close by. All suggestions are welcome.
