chemical warfare

While much of my lawn is given over to native plantings, the remaining lawn has a bad infestation of creeping charlie, and to a lesser degree, dandelions. I am doing battle ith my wife( friendly) an a neighbor (decidedly unfriendly) over the need to use chemicals, especially next to his wasteland of chemically induced green. Is there a non-chemical, or low chemical impact way to fight charlie, without total loss of principal?

Check the organic gardening forum and the lawn care FAQ's within. For a preemergent "weed and feed" you can use corn gluten. The creeping charlie often grows in more shady areas so a more shade tolerant grass in that area might help.

Supposedly, a solution of Borax sprayed on creeping charlie will kill it. I say-supposedly- because I tried it and it didn't.
