Identification Needed

This {{gwi:1058023}} is a volunteer which appeared next to my pond three years ago. I don't know if it is native or an escaped ornamental. It is the cut leaf plant on the bottom left side. I thought it was a cutleaf Japanese maple until the flower stalk sprouted. The stalk reminds me of an astilbe. Any ideas?

I found a pic of cutleaf elderberry. Thecutleaf version is yellowish and not as finely divided as this but it is close. I guess I'll know if I get red berries later this season.

Not Nicotiana. That doesn't have opposite foliage. Did the seeds look like Nasturtiums? They're pretty unmistakeable. Also what was the source of the seed?

Ok, the man says it has a sweet rose scent with a hint of green wood, like you broke a twig and smelled it lol. This man definitely knows his rose! He also snapped more pictures. he says the color in these photos are accurate but some years these roses turn almost black they get so dark, like the dark part of a Mr. Lincoln rose. Regardless of the name, I assure you he will always treasure these. I Just wish I could give him a name.

Cucurbits - the squashes - cross pollinate with gay abandon!! Won't affect this season's fruit but subsequent generations....like seeds leftover from last year's fruit now growing (as above) - could be just about anything. And unidentifiable.

Elderberry's bloom is a flat cluster, not a spike like that.

water hemlock and water parship also have a flattish flower spike.

I just saw (at a nursery in NC) a cutleaf version of Aruncus dioicus, goat's beard. I know that there are western versions of this plant as well as Asian versions. Cullina says they can hybridize. These plants are often called false astilbe, so check out the goat's beard.
