Strange plant, in PDX garden..

I don't know if it's all that strange, but I don't know and can't find any pictures of this thing anywhere! So I have taken some photos using my iphone, which may be bad! But if anyone can identify this please let me know, I would like to know if it is edible or if it is a weed or how I can get rid of it..

ps. in the picture...

1st is the plan as a whole, and it takes up quite a bit of room, and is kinda everywhere..

2nd is the root, which is very cool looking..

3rd is the bean-like thing growing off the plan..

What is PDX? If you run your hands along the foliage - is there a smell and if so, is it strong?

PDX = Portland,I assume in OR.

Can't see adequate detail to ID. Any images of the flowers?

thanks, def. fiddlehead ferns. now I know I can eat them if I knew how! lOL The other - canna??? I'm not sure because that is my shade garden and it said they're tropical and I don't remember seeing flowers last summer. I won't kill any more cuz now I'm curious to see what it is. I looked up hostas and found some have tubers???? I didn't know that. I've only seen hostas with roots. And the rooted ones grow bigger and bigger but they don't travel along like these plants were doing. They were everywhere. to be continued... ;-) Like I said, Christmas presents every day.

The next morning not much has changed with the alien worm but it's got friends now. Here are some pictures of the others. One is growing horizontally under the ground. I guess that answers the question of what I'd find if I dug one up… nothing. Lots of flies over in this area now.

Probably some sort of food container. Critters may have buried it there so another critter wouldn't steal it. Fox or coyote are generally nocturnal. Perhaps stray dog, but they would be more likely to have done it in the daytime.

It is a crucifer, family Brassiaceae. The seed pod is called a silique. Perhaps the genus Raphanus.

It is definitely a Brassica that has gone to flower. The remains of the leaves look to me like a kale, possibly red Russian. I have this on my allotment and it will self sow year after year if some are left to ripen seed.

PDX is the FAA three letter code for Portland (Oregon) International Airport. The term PDX has been adopted by people in the Portland region as a slang reference for their city. It's just the OP's way of saying the plant is growing in the Portland area somewhere.

I live a few miles from PTK (Oakland County International Airport, Michigan) -- the abbreviations are used on weather forecasts and discussions on the NOAA/National Weather Service sites, so I have learned quite a few of them.
