Hello stanofh, Sorry for late reply...never got notice from email about follow up question. In past three years, coldest I can recall is maybe upper 30s/low 40s at nights during winter (but those are extreme cold spells that last for just few days...normally winter nights are upper 40's/low 50s). Strange thing is last year there was only one harvest of the hanging papayas in summer of around 12 fruits...it was surprise just to see fruit after nothing for 3 years. This year we were able to harvest around 20 fruits in spring and I thought that was it...butt now in fall there is another batch of 25+ fruits. Tree top is now probably reaching 12 foot tall, compared to last year when it was probably 7 or 8 foot tall. We don't use fertilizer or any plant food...the only difference in last year versus previous three years is actually less watering. Mother in law owns farm in thailand...she said to only water tree 2 or 3 times a week.

Ken, you are correct, I am a newbie on Hostas - I had to have something to do during the pandemic last year with no sports for about 6 months during the spring so I bought a lot of Hostas online. I should know to call them divisions not bulbs, but I am still learning the terminology. By the way, the first one was bought from Holland Bulb Farm last year. The others most likely from a Big Box store or from a local garden center here in MS. Our local garden stores seldom have more than 5 or 6 kinds and I don't usually see any "exotic" ones although in the last few years I am seeing more different kinds. I have June and Grand (and Golden) Tiara, so I know that that is not correct. I'll look up St. Elmos fire to see what it looks like.

I did a little more digging on these two hosta. They are both sports of Patriot, so are very similar genetically. Both are believed to be tetraploid, although that is not confirmed. Myhostas.be lists Loyalist as a medium size hosta, with leaves 6X4. at a height of 18". He lists Fire and Ice as a small hosta (uses the word dwarf), at 10" and leaves also at 6X4. Hostaregistrar.org lists Loyalist as Medium sized, with 6.5x3.75 leaves. They list Fire and Ice as small without specifying a leaf size. I suspect these two are so similar they could not be distinguished unless the size is the "tell". I had Lakeside Shore Master and Pride and Joy next to each other and without labels, I could not tell you which was which . Pride and Joy is a sport of Paul's Glory. LSM is believed to be a sport of Paul's Glory, although it's parentage is listed as unknown. I also had Minuteman and Patriot next to each other. Without labels, I couldn't tell you which was which. They are both first generation sports of Francee. Just my two cents. bkay

Thank you to everyone for chiming in. I did consider Bathsheba also but this rose has sturdy, compact canes that bloom with a single rose at the end. It doesn’t grow like a climber. My Bathsheba is a vigorous grower with thinner canes and often more than one bloom at the tip. Gentle Hermione is one I hadn’t considered. After looking at pictures, I won’t rule it out but the bloom form does appear different. Thanks again! I did come across one Austin by chance that looked more similar but it’s rare in the US. Does anyone have experience/pictures of Troilus? I happened across it being offered and when I looked at the pictures on HMF they appeared close.
