Wild persimmons around houston

Hey guys, I live a little NW of Houston and have been on the lookout for some wild persimmon trees to pick from this fall. So far I've only found two with a little fruit on them. I know that they won't be ripe for another couple of months, but I was wanting to scout some out so that i can get to the fruit before the birds pick it clean. Any suggestions on where to find persimmon trees between houston and magnolia?

some persimmon trees are male, some are female. only the female trees bear fruit.

call your local ag extension horticulturist to find out where to find persimmon growing in your area.
