Invasive Plants: Good For Birds?

I've posted a link to an interesting (and inconclusive) article in North American Birds that discusses the relationships between birds and invasive non-native plants. Sometimes the birds prefer the 'wrong' berries - a fact that can confuse those of us who plant natives (among other reasons) because native wildlife are supposed to prefer them as food, habitat, etc.

Whether or not (certain) invasives are beneficial to (certain) birds, the overall ecosystem suffers (particularly plant diversity) from a world dominated by invasive plants. I'm sure the mockingbirds will be able to adjust without their multiflora rose berries, should that day ever come.
