Montana Huckleberries to New York

I purchased some huckleberry seed in a shop in Montana from one of their "Wildflower Collections". I'll have to double check on the species. The wild species was by Glacier National Park. Mostly on soil sparse rocky mountain terrain. (Typical Teton.)

How likely is it that I can get a sustainable patch going in South Eastern New York? There is an abundance of rocky outcrops which, although I don't know the soil composition, or PH levels, it seems to replicate the area where I picked a gallon of the berries. (With a lot of effort!!)

Should I just seed in a preferable location?

Should I start the seed @ home in pots, and transplant later in the season?

Should I start the seeds at home and winter over, to transplant next spring?

Where should I transplant? In the crags of boulders, as I witnessed? In open areas? -Or in my back yard.. they'll do just fine.

Any advice at all on propagation of these would be most appreciated. Especially on alpine crops in the Metro New York area.

Thank you!
