Are these natives 'worth it'?

I really like these plants, but was wondering if they were too vigorous/spreading/weedy to plant:

-Smilax rotundifolia (Common Greenbriar)

This is rather notorious for being a weed, according to my online sources. I think there is one sprouting on my property and I rather like it. There's also the added bonus of berries, which are supposed to be good for birds (on the female plants if a male is present)

-Helianthus tuberosus (Jerusalem artichoke)

I don't actually have this, but I could get it from a grocery store when the harvesting season arrives. It's supposed to spread quickly and be hard to remove.

-Asclepias syriaca (Common Milkweed)

This is very common, but I don't want it to spread and (possibly) annoy the neighbors.

-Phytolacca americana (American Pokeweed)

A little weedy, but should be good for the birds. Also seems to be used in gardens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pokeweed) sometimes.

Would container gardening or those barriers that you put in the ground help control these?
