corydalis died

I am so disappointed. My corydalis lutea looked fabulous. Then suddenly it flopped over. The stems had rotted at the crown. What happened? I have had it for several years and it has always been one of my favorites.

RE: corydalis died

Although it isn't a native plant, it has become established, ex cultivation. in a few states.
It is an attractive addition to a shade or woodland garden, but under ideal conditions, can become "weedy", by dispersing seed.
Mine has remained in a small area throughout the years and blooms until frost.
It prefers well drained soil. Mine is growing in a raised bed and have found seedlings only in the same bed or in adjacent raised beds that have good drainage. If you have experienced excessive rainfall and the site is not well drained, might explain it's sudden collapse. Haven't experienced any diseases or insect damage over the years.
Will be interesting to learn of experiences from other growers.
