ID for this plant?

I dont have a picture of it so im just gonna describe it. it looks like st.johns wort except the flowers are smaller, the stem is not 2-sided or flattened, and the leaves have opaque black dots where a normal st.johns wort would have clear/translucent dots.

Wow, that was a quick reply! Looks like it may be Smilax ecirrhata, it is native to Michigan. Thanks jaynine for your help. The leafy one looks like a Senecio. If it has a yello daisy like flower, it is. The spikes one is a Deuterochonia, previously called Abrometiella. Mir is Avery spikey bromeliad, and grows like a succulent rather than like the soft leaved bromeliads.
