Wildflower resources in Western MA

What are the best wild flowers for W. MA near springfield? Does the Dept of Transportation offer any free seeds? Do towns and townships force you to mow them down? Are there any gardening groups for the area? I knew of the DOT program that use to give away free seeds for the area, does it still operate?

Yes, they're still active. don't know why they didn't respond. You could also check out The Wild Ones at www.for-wild.com, there may be a chapter in your area. DOT programs usually have a lot of non-native invasives in their seed mixes...like crown vetch and dame's rocket, for instance.
