I try to cut them down every year, but man do those things grow fast! And thick vines! Some are as thick as my wrist and grow so high up in the trees there's no way I can reach them. But...I'll find a place for the new ones and keep a good eye on them. Thanks. ;) V.

Mick, that may be the variety my parents looked for each year. They got harder and harder to locate, since the area became more and more residential. I live in SW Missouri -- could they also be called Fox Grapes? If so, they certainly were in our area and made wonderful jelly. If the leaves are just 2-4 inches long and tendrils are simple, then V. rotundifolia is indicated. If the leaves are 4-6 inches long, tendrils are branched, and major veins on lower leaf surfaces are moderately to densely pubescent, then V. vulpina might fit. V. riparia is also possible for your plant, but those usually have longer, more slender tips on leaf teeth.

I'm fighting it in my yard, thanks to my old neighbors and the birds, and it sure looks like porcelain berry to me. Get rid of it ASAP or you and your neighbors are going to be in my shoes - it will take over.
