Plant ID help

Can anyone tell me what this is? It's in an area seeded with native prairie grasses and flowers but I don't think it came from that seed. I do have some native plants that have grown in this area on their own. Trying to figure out if this is something native or invasive. These aren't the greatest photos - taken with my phone.

Flower looks a bit like a ground cherry (Physalis sp.) but I can't make out the leaves in the photo.

Since you're using photobucket (where size is not an issue), can you post the original size pictures so we can more details?

Thank you James Patrick for this thread. What a beautiful specimen, probably because it receives abundant sunshine. Yesterday I traveled to a 60 acre public garden in Delaware. While the gardens were full of rhodies and azaleas they were all of Asian origin. Here is best ML specimen on the property which is around by the employees parking lot. On my way to Delaware and on my return I noticed rhodies, azaleas, hydrangeas, viburnums, mockorange and lots of knockout roses all in full glory. The only place that I ever see ML of any significance is undisturbed understory, stream banks and woodland edges. OP's pic is a true gem.

Not sure which leaves are which. The walnut-like leaves apparently are a different plant. If you could snip off a full leaf & lay it on a white background for a close-up pic, that would help.

Definitely a ground cherry. Can even see the fruit with the papery husk on one of the plants in the first pic. Couldn't say which species though.

Okay - that was enough of a lead that I think I found it. Clammy groundcherry - physallis heterophylla. The photo in this link looks pretty much like it don't you think?
