| In a disturbed woodlands I found several small plants that look like they might be a type of rue. Nine leaves - 3 groups of 3 - on each stem. The roots were quite fleshy. Could it be a rue or what else might it be? TIA |

| It sounds like it could be early meadow rue (Thalictrum dioicum) or rue anemone (Thalictrum thalictroides). Despite the common names, neither of these plants is related to the herb rue (Ruta) -- they just have leaves that look similar |
