I suggest you plant the seeds and wait to see if they germinate. That is what I plan to do with mine. I have some CHAYA (Cnidoscolus chayamansa) PLANTS, they have beautiful white flowers. I have many family members and friends with diabetes, Since I have a huge backyard, I decided to grow many plants (about 15). I mostly grow medicinal plants, this chaya is one of the most promising. I have some relatives that are healthy and they love making chaya drink. Every time I visit I bring a bag of leaves.

The others haven't bloomed, yet. Also, I am rooting roses like mad....Lol D'Ann, TIA is thanks in advance. I am looking for more food crops. Everything I buy now goes through my mind like this..."That's two gallons and that is one and a half gallons... Maybe I'll just put that money in the gas tank, instead...." I would love to know what anyone thinks of the taste of chaya. I love my veggies, esp greens, but I just can't do that malabar spinach. It is just too rich and mucilaginous for my taste. Veronica

I have grown chaya for years! I got my original plant as a cutting from a generous GW member. They root easily and are great for attracting butterflies. You can eat it [I haven't!] but you need to boil it twice to remove toxins. Here in Central Florida it does freeze back to the ground but comes back bigger and better each year. I really like this plant so a few cuttings go into the greenhouse every winter just in case something happens to the "mother" plant. Are you far from the Ocala area? I just happen to have one rooted plant that I started last winter that really needs a home! Let me know! Susan
