Identify a native from Carolinian zone?

I found a huge group of this plant growing in a moist shady area of forest. The plants have square almost translucent stems that remind me of an Impatiens. The leaves are beautiful with serrated edges and purple leaf petioles. The flowers emerge from the leaf axis and resemble the flowers of Utrica sp as does the plant but without the stinging hairs. The tallest plants were about 12".

Does anyone recognize this plant? I live in London Ontario Canada which is in the Carolinian zone 6b.

Mike
