I have a Crab Apple growing too. That, I got, the Mother's Day after this one. That just produced fruit last year. That one is very slow growing & leggy looking. Here are a few more photos that I just took. The Boy Friend is the type of guy that just throws things in the ground & "lets nature take its coarse". When we first noticed these, he was pleased & wanted to spread them around the property. Then, seeing how hard they were to get too. He thought of fusing. That is the first picture. It was weed wacked a few times. The shoots are growing from underneath & on those big main roots.

Update: I moved to the Caribbean 11 months ago and brought my sorry, three legged Lepismium?? with me. It's grown a bit but is still a tiny thing. Maybe now we can better ID it??? It hangs happily on a porch, receiving 5 hours of morning sun, then indirect sunlight the rest of the day. I noticed most of the tips and edges have turned reddish since relocation. It also has little white 'beards' all along its stalks. However, it has never flowered. Perhaps it needs more sun? And, by the way, what's up with this Tanzanian Zipper? Those are Echinopsis pups in there with this Tanzanian Zipper. I received it as a cutting with 3 others that died within a week. This one looks the exact same size it looked two years ago! It's still alive but never grew one root and appears to be in a perpetual snooze. Any ideas how I can jolt this one to life? Or perhaps it's time to throw in the towel. Thank you so much, Treefroggy, and Cindee. Crape jasmine is exactly right, and so is the white candles, whitfieldia longiflora. I really like these! Now, the plant I know as pagoda plant is definitely a clero, but it holds the red flowers upright above the leaves in a pyramidal shaped panicle (like a pagoda roof) and not flopping around in softer clusters like this one. I did see several clero photos that looked similar, including clerodendrum speciosissimum and splendens. But neither was exactly the same. This is paniculatum or pagoda flower. See the pyramidal shape? This one looks more like the one I'm trying to ID, to me. Or will the floppy clusters eventually become taller and more conical? This is the clero speciosissimum. Do you think it looks more like the one in Barb's new yard? Or am I crazy. Oh, wait. I AM crazy. But that has nothing to do with this question! *giggle* Marcia

I still think it was you but don't remember that much if kids were there. Wife black straight hair? Last Saturday at the Devonian gardens we talked about prunus Siberica and thought it to be a rather minor deviation of prunus Manchirica. Even though Siberica is likely to carry over the pink I still have one reserved thought that Robert Purvis knows of about Siberica. That it is an incredibly slow grower and is dwarf. Robert used to live in Alaska and in Idaho still does nothing but apricot in one of his collections in Washington. Gabe Botar was at the gardens who is another person knowing a great deal about apricot. He had scions of a prolific dwarf apricot with small good tasting fruits that he produced from crossed parents. Good stuff because slow growing and dwarf is always great for extreme cold or unprotected sites. For example flowering under the snow would delay bloom and escape the damaging spring frosts. If Clair Lammers (formerly from Edmonton) from Alaska ever grew Gabes apricot he would at least had fruits from this where all other his Manchurica experiments failed. My grandfather may have been around as a retired forester at the time those were planted and lived very close by. Only a remote possibility exists. I came across the trees a few years ago because I wanted to visit my childhood memories of the wading pool that still there in that place and not that anybody told me. Who ever planted them it seems very possible it was done from self pollinated Goldcot seeds similar the way you collected from the pink tree the seeds for another generation.
