Not all that much of working on the native plants that I grow as well as do cultural research with (Selaginella, Lycopodium, and moss species). Got a variety of native plants in pots and some species in the landscaping in my front yard my time is currently restricted to finishing up on reroofing my home-and this is a slow paced job. My primary objective at this time is to finish up on the web journal of the Tetragonostachys section of the genus Selaginella (the species that are typified by the eastern species S. rupestris) with the last plant that I have yet to confirm an identification of though I am leaning heavily towards S. leucobryoides. These journals are to provide both information and assistance on important characteristics of the species for identification purposes.

The most interesting project I have had recently is the sowing of seeds of Aquilegia mexicana, a yellow flowered columbine) and their successful germination. They have set out their first set of leaves and when much larger I will be breaking up the flat and repotting into individual pots and possibly planting into the front garden, somewhere??

Very impressive Terrestrial Man. The Selaginella photos on your site look vaguely familiar like, perhaps, they are something I pass once in a while but did not know what to make of. Are they common in NY?

I am getting ready to relocate a bunch of stuff. Our street is being reconstructed next year. I need to relocate all of my plantings near the street. I will be digging up the forbs and some clumps of the grasses, after they go to seed this fall.

So right now I am prepping some areas, to get ready to move that stuff. I've got them smothered with newspaper and mulch. I am probably going to donate a bunch to a local church that is interesting in native plantings.

In New York only Selaginella rupestris in lthe Tetragonostachys section and S. apoda & S. eclipes in the Stachygynandrum section. Most native selaginella species tend to be in the western half of the country extending into Canada. Texas has the largest number of species of all of the states.

I just relocated a big patch of Euthamia graminifolia (lance-leaved goldenrod) that had volunteered into a spot where they were blocking views of shorter plants behind them. So I moved them along the fence, softening the hard edges. The pollinators love them, and they smell like honey!

Other than that, weeding. When I get the nerve up, I just pick a spot anywhere and go until I can't stand it anymore.
