woodland edge planting suggestions

katob Z6ish, NE Pa

I have a disturbed woodland edge that I'd like to put a few interesting natives into. It's part shade, rocky and I think the soil is kind of fertile from dumped lawn clippings etc. Right now there's pokeweed, jap. knotweed and some thistles among other weeds (of course garlic mustard is there too).

Any plant suggestions? I was thinking bee balm, cardinal flower and maybe eventually some kind of native lilies. I'll probably leave some of the pokeweed.... How does this sound? Any other ideas?

thanks
