Can anyone identify this four petaled 'flower?'

I saw this plant growing along a creek in Linwood, KS (it's on the eastern border of the state, not far from Kansas City). Most of the petals/bracts of these flowers were green. Just one flower was red. Any idea what this plant is? I'm assuming it's a native just because of its location. I've looked through all my guides and I"m coming up with nothing.

Just a guess, but assuming the petals had fallen it kind of looks like Ludwigia alternifolia.

That's IT!!!!!!!!!!! I found a google image of the flower after it lost its petals and you are exactly right!!! And what an interesting plant. I hope the seedpods develop because they look mighty interesting.

I have no personal experience of this but could it be Zephyranthes Candida, commonly called the rainflower because it blooms after rainfall? Have a look on here: http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/Zephyranthes Whatever, it is very pretty.
