| I am a budding artist who recently spent a month in Australia enjoying and researching aboriginal art, among other things. One thing I would like to try is using acrylics and the "dot" method of painting on Eucalypt bark. Here in California I have bark of the spotted gum (Corymbia maculata) fairly readily available to me. However, I need to know the best way(s) of separating the layers of the bark and preparing each for painting.
Also, I would love to learn of a source for obtaining bark from the Stringybark Eucalyputus as well as learning the exact, step by step process used by indigenous artists to cure the bark by fire and/or preparing it by soaking it in water.
I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me! |
