Flowering Bush

Hello, I don't know if this is a wild bush, native bush, not sure what to call it... This summer as I drove down the rural roads around my home I admired these really tall, bushy bushes with large heart-shaped leaves. I don't think they were planted by someone - they have more of a naturally occurring feel to them. Recently, these huge bushes lining the roads sprouted tiny white flowers - growing in the shape of fingers - all over the bush.

Does anyone know what kind of plant these bushes may be?

The leaf shape is not right, but how about Polygonum cuspidatum?

Yep. That's it. These pretty bushes are something not to be included in my new landscape design. :-(

these are some of the most fragrant shrubs available ... and if you have one that isnt .. well.. get rid of it ... this is also a shrub that needs constant rejuvenation pruning ... to get rid of all the old ugly sticks ... https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffcm&q=rejuvenation+pruning&iax=videos&ia=videos part of its problems is that it has been pruned into sorta a tree form.. and this shrub aint buying that ... it also looks like it is lacking for light.. and leaning out to get over that ... was something that shaded it removed??? btw: the dog looks stoned.. whats that all about.. lol ... again .. if yours is not extremely fragrant.. just be done with it.. build a new bed .. and then get a very good one ... after it done blooming.. i might be tempted to just cut it down to 6 to 8 inches.. and watch it go crazy with no insult to the massive root mass .. unless you go in there to remove the grass and excessively disturb such ... [yes.. i might go beyond the usual 1/3 cut back in rejuvenation pruning]... they are a full sun plant ... so if yours is in less than such.. it just might not be a vigorous as otherwise ... but the way its flowering ... im thinking sun levels is just fine.. but i still dont get why its leaning so much ... ken

Yes, they are not native and quite weedy. There is a huge patch near some railroad tracks in the town north of me. What a monstrous tangle they have made there.

In parts of PA they are amoung the worst invasive weeds. They completely take over streamside vegetation, roadsides, and other moist acid soil areas. I don't think they thrive on limestone soils.

They are also ineradicable--nothing, and I mean nothing, can kill them.

It has been very resistant to herbicide applications but there is an injection tool specifically made for Japanese knotweed that you can use to inject glyphosate (Roundup) directly into the stems of Japanese knotweed. I have not used it or am in any way associated with this product, but I understand it is fairly effective. One benefit of this approach is that you are not broadcast spraying anything but directing it specifically to the plant you are trying to get rid of.
