Eradication of English Ivy
Comments (19)I have a byard with over ten years of overgrowth, no maintenance, basically a jungle that is the top bank of a riparian cooridor. The ivy that was planted twenty years ago at our townhouse complex has broken loose and infested the entire byard, and creeping into the riparian area. I can't control my neighbors area, so I have taken control of my area personally by weeding out the ivy manually by hand. Then I got some wood chips for free from local tree company and spread about 3inches thick across the cleared area. I am planning to leave as-is for a while to see if the ivy cannot grow back up thru the wooodchips. We'll see what happens....See MoreEnglish Ivy Dying
Comments (3)Believe it or not, there are several diseases that can affect English Ivy, under the right conditions (for the diseases, that is). Your University of MO Extension service has a plant diagnostic laboratory available for the testing of plant problems. I'd call your local extension office for assistance in packing up some samples for culture. I expect that the local office is required to fill out the paper work and send the samples from their offices. Here is a link that might be useful: Lookee here!...See MoreHow to encourage english ivy to grow in neighbors yard?

Comments (18)Salt is a problem but if you put it just around the plant on the other side of the fence it will kill it and it won't come back in that spot. We're dealing with a lot of salt here!! You can still see it crusted over much of the island. Can't fertilize yet as it just makes the salt worse. Even organic stuff like I use. But, I've been over dumping dirt to make raised beds next door(building was empty and I got sick of the weeds) I know the group moving in and they are cool with my gardening, and I've got veggies and flowers planted there. I routinely go to my neighbors yards and cut back things, dig out stickerburrs, spray weed n feed, put out ant killer....I have no fear of my neighbors. And if the one ever takes the locks off the gate I'm planting flowers over there, man that's an ugly yard. They just think I'm crazy. And I'm sorry but I spent toooo long getting rid of stickerburrs in my yard to let them get a foothold by creeping in from the neighbors yards! Her yardman cuts back anything that escapes from my side of the fence, I pull up the grass that tries to sneak from her side...and so it goes. Tally HO!...See Moreloris
