| Does little bluestem grow in clay? I'm thinking of frost seeding some onto mesic, well drained clay. Thanks |

| Little bluestem is a drought-tolerant plant that prefers a sandier soil. That said, it will grow in clay if drainage is good and it isn't overwatered. In my clay soil, it must have full sun and not sit in wet soil or it will "lodge". My plants on a steep slope do fine. One plant in a level area that gets hit by a sprinkler really resents it and tends to flop over. |
