It sure is quiet in here!

I have a few early risers to report and I'm hoping some others do too. I have a fawn lilly (Erythronium oregonum) that is up early with beautiful foliage and thankfully no signs of blossoming yet. This morning while getting the kids to school I also noticed that my witchhazel (Hammamellis intermedia Arnold Promise) is beginning to blossom! It is around two weeks earlier than I've ever had it bloom before. I also have some snow drops (Galanthus nivalis) up and blossoming and some Chionodoxa showing as well.

Anyone else have any early risers? What do you think will happen to them?

"be veh-wy, veh-wy quiet. I'm hunting wabbits."

Arnold promise was a bit early this year.

YIKES! Now I'm posting to myself!

"YIKES! Now I'm posting to myself!"

LOL, kwoods! I know the feeling. I've started posting again at GW after taking a few years off, and it seems like a ghost town. I had to resort to posting to myself, too.

Beautiful witch hazel, by the way.

Katy, Thanks for the commiseration... I guess we now know how the maytag repair man felt (lol)... even kwoods doesn't answer her own post anymore.

Nothing up this year. Daffs made an early effort with all the warm weather we had in Dec. and will now have cold/wind burnt tips on the leaves. Witchazel is even late in blooming. Not surprised since it is currently encased in ice!

RE: SHhhhhhhhhhhh!

After the Valentines day ice storm and about a week of cleanup, I am eagerly awaiting spring. Now what did that groundhog predict?
