privacy hedges/trees for living on the bay

Hi out there, I just moved into a house on the bay (salt & wind & sun)and I need to put up a 50' barrier and would like to keep it natural (no fence). Can anyone suggest anything that can tolerate/thrive in these conditions?

Japanese Black Pine, Rugosa Rose, Eastern Red Cedar, Beach Plum (Prunus maritima), Artemesia, Lavender and sedum as well as grasses will do well in these conditions. You can make some nice combinations with those and they willl form a nice barrier. Mass Plant for a more natural look.

JW,

just a friendly bit of advice if you never lived on the bay before......be aware that there are strict regulations about what you can and can't do depending on where you live. I'm not trying to be a pest, but I know too many people that have run into a lot of hassles with this. I have one friend that got into trouble when clearing a fallen tree on her property on the bay without permission.

Grassy ass (I think this means thank you in Spanish gardening terms)to all of you. To follow up for Donn, I live on the Great South Bay, across from Moriches Inlet.
