Seaweed Mulch and Maggots

I recently collected dried seaweed, mixed it with leaf mold from my garden and spread it around my vegetables as mulch. I've noticed that underneath the mulch in some spots I now have maggots. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Whenever I see maggots, I stomp them and leave their bodies to rot and blow away.

I've thought about using seaweed in the same way. Please post and let me know how it goes if you find the time. Wonder what kind of flys the maggots are? If they're not something awful it would seem that they would help break down the mulch more quickly.

I've never had a problem and I've collected a lot of seaweed. I've noticed a teeming horde of small worm-like critters when I collected the last batch (late April?). I just stuck to collecting the dry seaweed and not too much of the wet, bug infested. I suspect they are beach specific insects and not to worry. Linda
