Has anyone grown Lavatera thuringiaca (tree mallow)??

Did it overwinter well? Is it "reliably" hardy in our area? I was thinking of picking up the cultivar 'eyecatcher'. :)

'Eyecatcher' is Lavatera olbia, not Lavatera thuringiaca.

I haven't dared try Lavatera olbia 'Eyecatcher' in an exposed position since losing the original plant to flooding, but I had a seedling which looked much the same and it died of fairly promptly last winter. I wouldn't trust 'Eyecatcher' with hard frost.
