Staking and storms

Anyone stake their tall stuff BEFORE all the storms came through yesterday?

My wife and I were running around in the rain laughing and staking things in the thunder and lightning yesterday afternoon.

I always wait 'til things get too tall before I stake them and then I'm a bit disappointed in how they look. Does anyone stake things early and what techniques do you use for what flowers?

I staked a couple of tall ones but they were fine, the poppies are all flat but they came back last storm.

Did you get hail? I have some holes in the potato leaves from the hail. it was about 1/4 to 3/8 inches but flat. The rain was so warm it was a weird storm!

I was running around picking up the hail to freeze to show my hubby!
