When does it bloom around these parts? I planted 3 babies last year, and am hoping they'll bloom for me this season. Thanks!
Lynn

If they're going to bloom, you should be seeing some racemes developing now. It's an early summer bloomer.

My wife has some in the front border and it's just starting to bloom now (6/2). It was bought as a fairly large plant four years ago and bloomed for the first time last year. There may be a lot of reasons it took two years to bloom, transplant shock, establishing root system, etc. but it has lived in pretty ideal conditions since we've had it and in my experience they are pretty tough plants. I was a bit surprised it took two years to bloom, go figure. I've read they bloom second year from seed but do much better in their third and fourth year.

Well, I'm not really sure what a raceme should look like, but I have a feeling I'm not going to see those pretty flowers this season. THANKS!

Lynn - I also purchased one in a quart-sized pot last Sep - and while it looks green and healthy, there is no sign of flowering. I'm glad to find out that this seems to be the norm.
