glads not producing

| I planted glads 2 years ago at my old home in zone 7. They grew tall and leafy.. but no stalks and of course no flowers. I thought I'd give it another try this year in zone 6 and I'm surprised and saddened to see the same exact thing! All the corms gave me leafy nothing. What am I doing wrong? |

| They might need planting a little deeper if they're currently less than 4" for small corms or 6" for larger - and you could try a fertiliser that's quite high in potash, which bulbs often need to produce flower spikes. If you have a woodburner stove then ash from untreated wood can be used as a side dressing, or mixed in at planting time. Or use bonemeal for a slow release of potash. The NPK on your fertiliser needs to be 2-16-8 if your soil is phosphorus-deficient, too, or 4-8-12. |
