Are clamshells good for trees

I planted a small sapling. Apparently their is some kind of sea bird that habitually hangs out around there, and it has been bombarded with clamshells. Is that good for three, bad for the tree, or does it make a difference?

OK, this question was asked partly for the humor value, but I'm curious as to whether people think the clamshells would provide any fertilizer.
