Know it's hardy, dainty lav allium what is it?!

I am looking for an ID on this Allium. It's in bloom now late July, is about 28" tall, and petals are light lav. It's almost a half-moon shape.
Anyone know what it is?

Great photo Donn! So Very close! But I'm thinking now that it might be A. cernuum lav form. Comparing your photo to mine, it seems that the stamens' filaments are connected to the base ovary in a different way. There also seems to be more blossoms, in a tighter hemisphere that the beauty you show. Same color, though. How did you come about yours? I will try to find a good macro shot of another A. cernuum to compare. Thanks for the help and keep in touch. Best, PP |

| PP..I looked in the AHS Encyclopedia first, and found a photo and description of A. unifolium that sounded and looked like your plant. Then I did a Google image search, and found the site linked below; tons of Allium pics, including the one I posted, and several A. cernuum as well. I still think it looks and sounds more like A. Unifolium, but there are so many cultivars of all the Alliums, I'd have to see the rest of the plant, and more pics of the flower to be certain. PS, if you click on "parent directory" at the top of the list in that link, you'll find thousands of plant pics. It's quite a resource. |

| I dug back deeper into that site, and came up with a better link. It's a collection of photos hosted by the Pacific Bulb Society, and it's fantastic! |

WOW Donn! What a site. Thank you so much. I DID look at almost every single file and we're close. I qwill try to pull some of the plant out and get a herbarium-type photo for you and see what we can do. OK? Best to you, Julie |

Donn, Here are some photos from a moment ago. Someone says it may be a hybrid of A. senescens and nutans. What do you think? Best, PP

| Hmmm...hard to tell. My book lists the number of flowers in each umbel of the various Alliums. A. senescens, for example has up to 30 flowers in each umbel, while A. unifolium has only 20. Senescens' flowers are described as bell-shaped, while unifolium's are called cup-shaped. Feel like counting the number of flowers in a couple of umbels? Basing it on flowering season, it's a better chance that it's senescens, because it's a mid-summer bloomer, while unifolium is a spring bloomer. |

Donn, Just went out. The one I counted (a fresher one) had 46 flowers. Where does that out us? it definitely has never bloomed in the Spring. Best, PP |
