What to Plant/Seed/Sow in August/September?

My name is Jeannie and I live in a ground-floor condo near the Shore in Central New Jersey. This Spring I did alot of container gardening... anything I could grow from seed. The Fall season is falling upon us and I haven't a clue as to what I can start growing here from seed and in containers in mid-August/September. I would appreciate any ideas!

Thanks!
Jeannie

Jeannie,
A few questions however. Will you be bringing these plants inside for the winter, do you want the seeds to germinate and be big enough for Aug/Sep, what about cuttings? Oh gosh, the list is endless. For starters, what about herbs like basil, parsley or nasturtiums, morning glories, or vegetables like fall spinach, lettuce or radishes? Hope this helps stir those juices!
Best,
PP
